by: JENNIFER CHANCELLOR - Tulsa World
With rowdy hits like "Heads Carolina, Tails California," "Bye, Bye," "Lesson in Leavin'," "That's the Way," "My Give a Damn's Busted" and "Biker Chick," country cowgirl Jo Dee Messina's proven that her kinetic kick can take down all doubters.
She'll round up her hits for a stellar one-night stand at RiverSpirit Casino's event center this weekend.
Since her music debut in the mid-1990s, her career has chronicled her life experiences - painful break-ups, liberating tell-offs, fulfillment, love and hope.
She's rough and tumble and full of spark, but making music has been a constant love of hers as long as she can remember.
JO DEE MESSINA TAKES HER 'MUSIC ROOM' ON THE ROAD
Oct 20, 2010 | In news, Live Reviews, music
Jo Dee Messina has packed up the music room of her Franklin, Tenn. home and brought it on the road to set the tone of her new laid back, all-request tour. The stage set up includes a couch, two chairs, a coffee table, floor lamps, three curtains and four suspended window frames, which resemble those in the songstress' abode. Oh, and then there's a piano and four musicians with an array on instruments.
"I was in Florida and a fan said something to which I responded, 'That would hurt my feelings,'" Jo Dee explains to The Boot. "The girl said, 'You get your feelings hurt? I figured with 'Bye Bye' and 'Lesson in Leavin'' that nothing phases you.' It made me realize the fans know my music but they don't know me: the person. Let's invite them over and just talk back and forth."

By Carolyn Calvin - Navajo Times
Making a return appearance to Shiprock, country music star Jo Dee Messina will appear at 7 p.m. next Thursday, Oct. 14, at the Phil L. Thomas Performing Arts Center in Shiprock.
Messina is looking forward to performing for a community she connected with last year.
"I have great memories of Shiprock," she said. "Last year, we played the same night a football game was taking place. We had a great time and bonded with the community. We booked our show right there and then."
Before her show last year, Messina performed before a football game at Shiprock High School in tribute to brothers Marshall Alan Westbrook and Kenneth Westbrook, who lost their lives in separate incidents in Iraq and Afghanistan.
