"Access Jo Dee"

Nashville: Jo Dee Messina, the redheaded country firebrand, is known for being a high impact singing sensation. So it makes sense that she'd want to kick-off the follow-up to her double-platinum I'm Alright with something that would let her sink her teeth into the music that is Burn, due August 1.

To that end, Messina and her band are set to do a very special "All Access" on CMT, July 26 that may just have a surprise or two.

It's In The Numbers

Nashville (03/17/00) - By now, everyone knows Jo Dee Messina sold out the 54,000+ seat Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo -- and that I'm Alright, her sophomore Curb release, has passed double platinum. But recently, Messina found herself confronted by a 7+ hour autograph line at an in-store in Washington state. Never one to leave her fans in the lurch, Messina gamely dug in, gave the fans her time and attention - and signed until everyone got what they came for.

For one young attendee, the opportunity to meet the redheaded singer was so exciting, he gamely told his parents he'd rather cancel his own birthday party than abandon his quest! Messina was so touched by the 6-year old's commitment that she told him to go to the toy department and pick out "the biggest, bestest toy for your birthday."

One mini-range rover later, the little boy has an amazing story to tell…and Messina got an even greater gift: the opportunity to make one of her fan's smile on a very special day from clear out of the blue.

Nashville (03/01/00) - She wowed 'em from the stage of the Ryman Auditorium Tuesday night, where she headlined the Warner Music Group's official Country Radio Seminar kick-off event. Now Jo Dee Messina picks up an even bigger milestone: her second consecutive Top Female Vocalist nomination from the Los Angeles-based Academy of Country Music.

New Messina Album
in the works

With her Academy of Country Music Album of the Year nominee I'm Alright now double platinum, whirlwind Jo Dee Messina is in the midst of finishing her third album project in Nashville. The woman -- who is the only female this decade to place two songs in Billboard's Top 10 Most Played Songs of the Year for two consecutive years (1998: "Bye, Bye" #2 and "I'm Alright" #4, 1999: "Lesson In Leavin'" #3 and "Stand Beside Me" #7) -- known for her freewheeling stage presence and good-time attitude is once again working with producers Bryon Gallimore and Tim McGraw.

Access All Areas

Look for Jo Dee Messina to roar into Nashville on a mission this week. The always effervescent vocalist is getting ready for one of those things that truly sparks her creative side: a special edition of CMT's "All Access." For the upcoming live performance broadcast, Messina is polishing up some surprises for all those fans who already know how high energy her concerts are. And it's a smart bet that the dancers who've popped up with Messina in her "That's The Way" video clip - which is now in a heavy rotation at CMT:Country Music Television -- and at both the Country Weekly Presents the TNN Music Awards show and CBS' "Early Show" Morning Concert series will be part of the festivities.

Messina, whose current single was actually written about her life and her will to power through, has the fastest moving song on the country charts. "That's The Way" is hovering around the Top 5 and looks as if it will continue the reigning Country Music Association Horizon Award winner's winning ways with country radio.

And while "That's The Way" is scorching up the Country Singles chart, get ready for Burn, Messina's follow-up to her double-platinum-plus I'm Alright. Messina's latest hits stores August 1.

You Gotta Have Friends, Two

Everybody also knows how generous the double platinum redhead can be. And it's the kind of generous she doesn't necessarily like to call attention to, either. (So, don't necessarily tell her I told you this…)

At a recent show in Georgia, someone left a note at one of the t-shirt stands asking Messina for help. Seems there's a man named Claude Bubba Anderson who needed a new lift for his wheelchair to get himself into his van. Though the note never reached Messina that evening, it did eventually make its way into the singer's hands.

The very next night when she was onstage, the reigning CMA Horizon Award winner told the audience about the situation and asked for their help too. "If people will go to the t-shirt stands and chip in their spare change, because every little bit adds up, I'll match it."

Look for Jo Dee to sing her current single, the chart-bounding "That's The Way" on CBS' "The Early Show" June 19th as part of their summer concert series.

Country Stars Salute Barry Manilow's 25-Year Career on TNN Special

Superstar hit maker Barry Manilow was joined by a diverse group of today's hottest artists, including Trisha Yearwood, Jo Dee Messina, Lorrie Morgan, Deana Carter, Gillian Welch, Neal McCoy, Jaci Velasquez, Kevin Sharp and teen singer Lila McCann, as they salute his 25-year career in music, when TNN presented Manilow Country Tuesday, April 11 (9 p.m. ET/PT).

Custom Fit Songs

Jo Dee Messina knows how to pick'em…songs, that is. With I'm Alright now past double platinum for sales of over two million, there's been an interesting development in the song selection process. Just like always the Holliston, Massachusetts-born vocalist has sought out songs that she feels she's lived and can totally relate to. But for BURN, due August 1, Messina actually learned that a few of the writers sat down and wrote songs with her in mind.

"I was surprised to think that anyone would write a song specifically for me," says Messina with her signature laugh. "But Holly Lamar and Annie Roboff (who wrote Messina's current single 'That's The Way') and Holly and Stephanie Bentley (who wrote "These Are The Days") I was told wrote their songs after talking about my life. Holly and Stephanie from reading something I'd said in an interview about how hectic things are these days, but that it's all good. Holly and Annie got 'That's The Way' from talking about the stuff I've been through along the way.

"What's amazing is that they hit the nail on the head so well - and they'd never even met me!"
